This year at CES, the focus seems to have shifted to the Ultra HD 4K Televisions rather than 3D TVs or other full HD TVs. The 2013 CES was surrounded by high-end, Ultra- smart, huge and expensive TVs. Companies like Samsung, LG, Sony, etc. played a big role in the 4K television technology.
The 4K televisions are all about clarity like never before with super high definition visual output. 4K, or call it UltraHD TVs will have screen resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels.
During the CES, series of 4k TVs from different manufacturers were unveiled. Some of the most talked of them are:
Sony unveiled two new models of 4k TV lineup, the Bravia XBR-65X900A and XBR-55X900A with 65-inch and 5-5inch displays respectively. Both are equipped with Sony’s X-Reality Pro engine and edge-lit LED for handling 4k resolution with ease. Sony has not yet revealed the price of these TVs yet.
Toshiba took the wraps off from their 4k TV line up at the CES which include 3 models – 58, 65 and 84-inch models. Toshiba has named them by l9300 series of 4k TV. These models are equipped with Toshiba’s all new Cloud TV platform which offers great features like messaging and calendar on the TV itself. Pricing status has not yet been revealed by Toshiba.
LG on the other hand announced its 4K TVs comprising both 55 and 65 inch models, which added to the already announced 84inch 4k TV lineup by LG last year. LG 4k TVs include technology to upscale 1080p resolution to 4k resolution. Release date and price has still not been revealed by the company.
Samsung showcased its giant 110 inch 4k TV at CES and claimed it to be the world’s largest 4k television ever. Although the model displayed at CES is a prototype, along-with 100-inch TV Samsung also announced 85-inch 4k TV model with same floor-standing television mount like the 110-inch model.
The 85-inch 4k model is said to be equipped with voice interaction and a quad-core processor. The 85-inch S9 model also incorporates connectivity options like Samsung Smart View (used to stream content between your TV and mobile device), Wi-Fi etc. Well, price of the S9 model has not yet been revealed but it is expected to come and hit the market at the end of 2013.
Westinghouse: Not only the giant manufacturers like LG, Samsung, etc but some local American companies also showcased their 4k television sets at CES, in which the most desirable amongst them was Westinghouse (an American manufacturer). It showed its giant QX 110-inch 4k TV priced at $300000 which was pretty amusing.
