Verbatim 1 TB Store n Go USB 3.0 External HDD Unboxing and Speed

Verbatim Store n Go 1 TB USB 3.0 External HDD

I always needed an external yet portable hard disk drive which could store double than my primary computer. From backing up data to storing movies, I chose Verbatim’s Store n Go USB 3.0 HDD which is ultra portable (2.5 inch) and the USB 2.0 speed is quite satisfactory.

Though the looks are not the best in class but is okay. The HDD is comparatively thin and light in weight.

It comes with a USB 3.0 USB cable which supports USB 2.0 backwards and user manuals which you would never read. You can see the unboxing video on youtube. The HDD design, as you can see in the above image, is sleek and beautiful but is prone to fingerprints and dust. And the upper surface is also prone to scratches. The USB 3.0 cable looks something like this:

Now talking about its data transfer speed. I tested this HDD using USBFlashSpeed tool on my laptop which supports USB 2.0. Read speed was 26.59 MB/s and write speed was also pretty good - 22.21 MB/s. Please note that the speed test was done with USB 2.0 only. I have yet to do the speed test with USB 3.0 compatible devices (i.e. my Macbook air) But I couldn’t find good speed test tool for Mac. But I am pretty sure that the USB 3.0 data transfer was 3x faster than 2.0

You can read my brief review on Flipkart where I rated it 4/5. In this price range, Verbatim should have offered anti-shock silicon shell with it.

You can alternatively buy Transcend StoreJet 25H3P USB 3.0 2.5 inch 1 TB External Hard Disk which is cheaper than Verbatim one but offers Anti shock and one-touch back in addition. But Transcend Storejet is thicker and heavier in weight – that may ruin the deal.

  • OS Supported: Windows XP, Vista, 7; Mac OS, Linux
