Twitter is the best way to share what’s happening, as Twitter say.But in fact, Twitter is also the best way to share your emotions, feelings, opinions, and connecting with people. There is no surety that your twitter account is 100% safe but you can make it 99.99% secure by following some tips.

If you remember, there were many celebrities who started following some random people. Well that was because of twitter’s loophole and the issue was immediately resolved by twitter.

How to Secure the Twitter Account!

1. Use Strong Passwords: Using strong and unique passwords is the best practice to secure your twitter account. Your password should be at least 10 characters long and should contain alphabets, numbers and special characters. Your password should never be your phone number, your full name.

2. Use Different Passwords: Your passwords should differ from site to site. e.g. if you use a password for Facebook, that same password should not be same for you twitter account or your mail account. See the image below for reference.

3. Add your Phone Number: Add and verify your phone number to your twitter account. Don’t worry, its not for public. Its purpose is to secure your twitter account if in case you forget the password or unfortunately your account gets hacked.
Go to Account Settings > Mobile > Add your mobile phone number.

4.  Revoke Access to Unwanted Apps: You should continuously keep an eye on the apps you allow. These apps may be for tweeting, managing your twitter account, analysis of your twitter account, auto follow-unfollow, etc.
If you find any unwanted and strange activity with your twitter account, immediately review the last allowed app and revoke its access.
Fact: Earlier, the Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan used such apps two years back (May be to gain more followers as he was having comparatively less followers than other bollywood celebs)  and he started following random people and the App tweeted on behalf on him. Later on, this issue was resolved.

Twitter is now offering HTTPS by default which secures your twitter account with 128-bit encryption.
